NICVIEW

Bonding with a new baby is so important for parents. But when a baby
is cared for in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), bonding can be a
challenge when the baby and parents can’t be together all the time. But NICVIEW, a NICU camera system at The Medical Center, is making it possible for that special bond to form even when parents and their baby are separated.

The Medical Center is the first hospital in Kentucky to offer NICVIEW, a camera system and secure online portal for parents and families to stay connected with their NICU baby. It’s the next best thing to being there.

NICVIEW is an innovative camera system that allows parents and families to view their baby in the NICU in real time. A small camera is mounted to the baby’s bed or incubator and allows for video streaming through a secure online portal. NICU staff can post notes in the portal to share information about baby’s activities. Parents are able to watch over their baby and feel connected even if miles apart.

Easy Access

Access to NICVIEW is easy. You can use any web-enabled device such as a
computer or mobile device and all you need is access to the Internet. It works across all major Internet browsers. Family and friends close to home or across the world have access to real time video of the baby, if given access by the parents.

Safe and Secure

At The Medical Center, the safety of your baby is of the utmost importance to
us. A username and password are only issued to parents who consent to use
the system. No one can have access to a baby’s video feed unless the parents choose to provide their username and password to family and friends.

All video and information are secured with up to 256-bit SSL encryption (the
current web security standard). Video is never recorded or stored. Only authorized parents have access to their baby’s bed or incubator and cannot view other infants in the NICU.
