A Letter from the Program Director

Thank you for your interest in the Cardiology Fellowship Training Program at The Medical Center. This website describes our philosophy for the fellowship and the structure and content of the curriculum. I hope you find it helpful and informative.

The mission of The Medical Center’s Fellowship Training Program in Cardiology is to improve healthcare access and health status for persons living in or near Southcentral Kentucky, by providing our cardiology fellows with a comprehensive structured cognitive and procedural clinical education in both inpatient and outpatient settings enabling them to become competent, proficient and professional clinicians.

The principal objective of the fellowship program is to provide excellence in training in cardiovascular disease management in an environment conducive to independent, self-motivated learning and scholarly activity, with the aim of developing clinician-scientists or clinician-educators experienced in clinical research and capable of assuming academic positions. The curriculum, conferences and schedules have been designed to fulfill ACGME requirements.

I have designated my associate, Dr. Jacqueline Dawson Dowe, to be the Associate Program Director in addition to her responsibilities of being The Director of Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant and Women’s Heart Health. She is very well qualified for this position and together, we will work diligently to ensure that our fellows receive the best training possible.

I invite you to explore the rest of our website and look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to the next exciting phase of your professional career. Please do not hesitate to contact me or Jake Barrick, Residency Program Coordinator at 270-780-2693 if you have further questions.

Sincerely yours,

Mohammed Kazimuddin, M.D., FACC, FSCAI
