Cervical Cancer This patient had been treated
for cervical cancer with radiation therapy and chemotherapy. Her physician
wanted to check if the cancer had returned and to what degree, if any, it
had spread. Prior to PET scanning, the initial diagnosis was that moderately
active cancer was still present, but localized in the cervix. The PET scan
revealed extensive cancer metastasis to the patient's lymph nodes and more
aggressive treatment was begun immediately.
