The patient was admitted for a heart attack. Prior to going to open heart surgery, the patient was referred for PET Scanning. The Scan demonstrated that while a large majority of the heart muscle was dead, some areas were alive. This patient underwent open heart surgery to ensure the heart muscle that was alive received enough blood to stay alive.
