Coronary Artery Disease is the most common form
of heart disease and the number one killer of both men and women. Coronary
artery disease occurs when the arteries that carry blood and oxygen to the heart
become clogged with deposits of plaque consisting of fat, cholesterol, and
calcium. This buildup slows the flow of blood to the heart muscle, leading to an
increased chance of heart failure.
Cardiac Scoring is a non-invasive, painless scan
of the heart that takes less than ten minutes. Using the latest CT technology,
Cardiac Scoring is a convenient test for detecting people at risk for developing
heart disease.
After the test, patients are given their score, a
number showing the potential for suffering the effects of coronary heart
disease. A qualified technologist will go over each person’s score minutes after
having the test done. Follow-up with a physician is recommended for individuals
with scores in the higher range.
To schedule a cardiac scoring exam, call (270)
745-1199 or toll free 1-800-231-9621.
Cardiac scoring is not a replacement for seeing a
physician or cardiologist. It is not intended to replace other diagnostic tests
such as an ECG, Stress Test, or Cardiac Catheterization.
