Why is Medical Nutrition Therapy important?

Medical experts recommend individuals follow a healthy diet, maintain an ideal bodyweight, and exercise to help prevent the onset or progression of disease.

If you have a personal or family history of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, obesity, and/or if you are concerned about your overall health, then you may want to learn about an individualized diet that will meet your health needs.

Carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, and fluids are all vital to organ function and maintaining life.  Because the American diet tends to be “unhealthy,” learning the real facts from a dietitian will provide the knowledge you need to make the right food choices and maintain good health.

The Medical Center’s Health & Wellness Center is pleased to offer Medical Nutrition Therapy services to assist you in managing your nutritional needs.

How do I set up an appointment for Medical Nutrition Therapy?

  1. You can obtain a referral from your physician, or you can refer yourself.  Your physician will then be contacted by our staff to assist in the development of your personal plan of care.
  2. Call (270) 796-6596 and ask to speak with the community dietitian.
